Talking about real world applications. What applications do you guys use in your day to day or even once in a while use. For me it's gaming, ripping my dvds, and recoding them using nero for my thunderbolt. That's about as intensive as it gets aside from gpu acceleration. What have you?
 
Sculptris doesn't tax the cpu much. In fact, its pretty light. Zbrush is heavier though since it's all software based and doesn't use the GPU. That said, my heaviest work comes from rendering in Mental Ray (maya) and modo.
 
Sculptris uses the GPU for rendering, but every time i make a stroke, it maxxes out all four of my cores. I'm pretty sure that's because the modeling and dynamic tessellation is all computed via CPU.
 
I use Autodesk Autocad 2012 Professional, Autodesk Inventor 2012 Professional, Autodesk Maya 2011, SolidWorks. I also do some encoding transcoding of videos and occasionally game with EVE or Civ 4/5.
 
watching 6 HD pornos on 6 monitors.... can be pretty cpu intensive.

Both work the ol' CPU pretty good (And GPU for @Home)
