Warmachine: Tactics

Thanks for the update and posting. I have a long history with the guys. Believe it or not I hired Feargus into the industry about 21 years ago.

Cheers

This looks very interesting... years ago I was a fan of Warhammer/40k, etc... back in early 90s... been a long time since I played some table top but always like Turn Based games.

I'll keep an eye on this one for sure. Best of luck in the development.

For those who have been tracking we have made it all the way to the second campaign stretch goal!

Cheers

Rusty, sorry for the OT, but...

Are there ever any plans to do a Descent like game in the future? I'm sure the original IP is in some form of limbo, but this is a very underutilized genre.

I am talking with folks to try and get something off the ground. I have been trying to do it for several years. Back when I was at Sony I tried to negotiate the rights so I could do Descent Arena. At least for the first title. Figure I would distill it down to the one thing everyone loved and bring in a bunch of the alternate play multiplayer modes that people loved as well as several we never had the chance to do.

Is there a pledge level that has 2 copies? I'd like to gift one to a friend. :)

You can actually just make it an add-on to which ever pledge you make. It is $20.00 to do it. towards the bottom of the KS page there is a section about it as well as a link

http://www.warmachinetactics.com/#!faq/czk5

explaining how to do it. The pledge must be at at the $20 mark to do add-ons.

Cheers

PS one more shameless plug Already reach 1.45 million may actually make the next stretch goal of adding the Scyrah battle group by the end of the KS tonight. :D

Hi All,

I just wanted to say thanks for the support! :D

We are dropping into full steam ahead now between finishing the kickstarter and the conversion from UE3 to UE4. We have a paypal site up for the next couple of weeks that is contributing to our total and still expanding out more of the stretch goals.

Since the early access on Steam is front page news, I guess it's time to top this thread.

Their website has gotten significantly more badass since I last looked. :D

price is still way higher than id be willing to pay.

Agreed. I'm interested in the game, enjoyed table top games years ago... but this price, not now.

There's some major rage going on about the price in the steam forum as well.

Will wait until it's launched and see then.

It's $65 for early access. What are they going to charge when it comes out? You could get just the game on Kickstarter for $20.

Basically from what I understood after reading the Steam forums, the version that is available right now is the Deluxe Edition. It has a bunch of extras that also happen to include 20 extra DLC factions to vary your game play on subsequent playthroughs. You can play the game with the standard factions that come with the base game. But if you want extra factions then you're going to have to buy them in the Deluxe Edition or individually when the game launches.

The Kickstarter $65 Edition has all of the extra DLC factions that may be created in the future. The Early Access Deluxe Edition only has 20. That way they rewarded those that believed in them from the beginning.

Before everyone gets upset by the word DLC, look at the Warhammer Retribution DLC. It's all extras and you don't need it to enjoy the game. If you wait until the game launches in August, then the base game will be between $20 and $30. Then you can pick and choose if you want to add DLC to the game. Oh and the Deluxe Edition has some sort of discount in it. Buying the base game + 20 DLC factions after launch is going to cost more than $65.

I might be wrong on what I said above, but that is what I understood from reading the Steam forums. Feel free to correct what I said, as I was reading what others were saying on the forums and I may have gotten some of it wrong or left something out.

I feel you, but Warhammer has massive weight behind it. Its a known solid IP. Not saying this game can't/won't be good, but thats a lot of cash to drop on a 'new' IP as far as computer gaming goes. Yes, I am quite familiar with it as a warhammer tabletop variant with a lot of steam behind it.

Well the game launches in August anyways. So $20 - $30 for the base game seems like a perfectly logical pricing point for it. The Deluxe Edition version on Steam right now is for the "I want to own it all" crowd that was scared of getting burned by a Kickstarter campaign. I think of it as a second chance for them at the Kickstarter content.

Win win for everyone.

20 extra units

you’ll not only be able to jump into the Beta now, but you’ll receive the full version of the game upon release as well as 20 ADDITIONAL UNITS that can be added to your armies in the weeks and months following the game’s release, including:

• Eight Mercenary Warrior Units
• Magnus the Traitor Mercenary Warcaster
• Three Mercenary Warjacks
• Four unique Character Warjacks [of the Apotheosis] — one for each of the core factions.
• Four massive Warcasters [of the Apotheosis] — one for each of the core factions.

I wouldn't mind if it was 20 extra DLCs with some factions added on, but it seems that the number of factions are stuck at four in current state.
