I am VERY surprised there aren't any threads here for this game. Early Access starts September 10, 2026!

Wardogs strikes an excellent balance between games like Battlefield and games like ARMA. The developers have stated "the game is a hardcore tactical shooter that doesn't forget its a game." When addressing their vision and the line between too arcadey and hardcore, "it's important we clearly state our vision, and that for Wardogs we are the line in the sand."

The guys I play with absolutely love the game. It was a lot of fun with everyone on comms playing tactically. We constantly had 30+ players on during the recent alpha!

https://www.team17.com/games/wardogs

"WARDOGS is an All-Out Warfare FPS that combines tactical gunplay and combined arms combat with building and destruction mechanics in a large-scale, up to 100-player militaristic sandbox.

The game mode - Inspired by ‘King of The Hill’ - has three teams fight for control of a randomised 2x2km ‘Control Zone’ within a 256km² map. The team with the most players within the Control Zone earns points - the first team to reach 100 points wins the match. The variables in zone location and individual player tactics mean no match ever plays the same."

I watched the live streams over the weekend and it was very boring. I watched a player drive 10 minutes from their base to get where shooting can be heard, not a good selling point and it didn't look as fun or graphically close to BF6. Lots of weird clipping graphics that looked aged too. Maybe there is a niche market for BF and CoD haters with Wardogs?

Interesting take. Definitely not 10 minutes to get to any action. Graphics were more than fine, but that's always subjective.

Battlefield is one of my favorite series, and I have played every COD except the last couple of Black Ops entries. I dislike the direction EA & Activision has taken with their cosmetics & store/gamepass, I don't necessarily hate the gameplay (depending on the title ;)).

If they move forward with the supposed open beta, I highly suggest you try it.

I mean I go back to Novalogic Delta Force 2, as a sniper and sniper killer, I could spend 10mins easily sneaking around the outer rims of the map to hunt and knife other snipers from behind...

The problem is other games you spawn and can die in seconds, maps are either too tight, choked in parts..

What I would like to see, and only because I played the free weekend of Over the Top: WW1, is engineers, where you can actually build fortifications, trenches and other things, vs just run and gun...

I'm trying to get into it after playing the beta but may not be for me. The map is huge but empty wasteland, half the players just sniping from bushes, the graphics are from like 15 years ago.

I also think the game is going to have a huge cheating problem like Tarkov. But gotta support devs that are not making casual console auto aim slop like CoD and BF so may buy it anyway.

Reminds me of desert combat. And I'm the market for it. Bf and cod suck ass these days

Watched some video reviews and Wardogs is definitely for the anti-CoD/BF market so it's very niche. I think it has a chance for success as there is a lot of CoD/BF haters out there. I suspect Wardogs gamer audience is more older than young too.

Got into the server test, but, seems what ever DRM they are using wont work under ProtonDB and just fails with an error it can not be downloaded :(

Even though they have a Linux channel in their discord, they were using EAC before and it worked fine,. but they moved to "Elytra" instead, so looks like Linux may be out of the question to run this game because once again a dev studio decides to use anti-cheat that screws its user base and wont stop cheaters anyways..

I got an invite, dunno if I'll get to it though. It is fun to watch at least.

If your servers can't handle the number of players who bought your game, don't release your game.

This game is going to be functionally dead within 6 months with shit like this happening already.

This game is not good. This is also the same studio that released battalion, and then abandoned it like 2 months later.

Had some fun with the beta, though it did feel like a lot of travel time for a limited amount of action before getting killed by a sniper. Would prefer a bit more health, but maybe that will come with gear upgrades.

Never play launch day for any online game. The day after is better than wasting a night. I've done that on too many games to count, finally learned my lesson hah

This, seems LOTS of people upset because of the queue system and waiting in queue for a long time, to then have their crap "made by Embark" anti-cheat ban them with out even getting into a game.

I get this is a beta almost, but this level of fail shows the talent this studio has... seems like more vibe coded crap and no one who has a clue about infrastructure.

It's early access.

No excuse, it shows they are not ready for a large rush, they are the ones who approved who could get into the server test and early access, so they have the numbers, it shows, like many companies, they do not properly stress test their infra to make sure it can handle a spike load..

This is nothing new, it has been done for decades by too many companies, usually those run by "developers", fall flat on their faces and want to cut corners.

I played the pre-release a little bit. It seems cool, sort of like Planetside with a modern setting. But at the same time it kind of seemed boring. I tried watching some streams yesterday to see if there was anything exciting and it wasn't sparking anything for me.

I guess I'll wait a while and see how it turns out. I'm keeping my eye on it because it seems like something I would enjoy.

Servers were fine after four hours. Relax. Just play.

The routine mechanic (spawn, buy gear, heli back over) is quite boring IMHO but the overall gun fights that you can find yourself in are outstanding. Spent a good 30-40 minutes in the circle yesterday before having to finally "give up" and respawn. It was epic. I was downed a lot but staying tight group with team mates, I was back up and running in no time. Definitely a game that requires communication to make it fun.

The change in pace happens so drastically. Our team was on point 97 out of 100 and second place turned the lights on somehow and won it from like being down 30 points. Was one of the most incredible comebacks I've ever seen.

I had close to 50hours into the closed alphas and the beta weekends, love the change of pace and teamwork required, its what battlefield should have been. Sick of twitch shooters

Game runs very well even on my 5600xt.

Looking forward to more maps and content added.

The game runs well, but the graphics are dated. I had everything maxed out and thought the settings were bugged or I missed something. Nope, that's just how it looks. Understandable since the maps are so big and there are so many players in a game, but disappointing as someone that has a 5090.

I hope they add some other game modes. Something to encourage gameplay outside the circle. Maybe that just ends up getting a squad together to go shoot down their helis as they're just taking off. There's so much great terrain and so little being used

Main base assault mode would be sweet.

Two teams invading a third factions main base would be pretty epic.

I tried this. Love the gun play, but I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. Spawned into a game, went to get in a car with a dude that pulled up next to me. He's like get out, we're on a mission. I'm like wtf? Then a helicopter landed next to me I got in, and the pilots like "get out toe, get out, we're on a mission." So I'm like okay..Hitch a ride with another pilot who ejected. So did I but I didn't know the key for parachute and died. Not sure if this one is for me.

Join a squad. Stay with squad.

Space bar or jump button for parachute. Oh wait, that is for Battlefield 😂

Does it have a death match /multiplayer mode? I'm a long time COD player but with them doubling down on this awful skill based matchmaking that makes every match a sweatfest, I've been looking for a replacement. I don't care for the tactical or team work aspect, I don't have the attention span. I just want good, fun gunplay, good movement.

This sounds like the old battlefield I know and love lol

No it doesn't.

You can do supply runs and build mode if you like that stuff. Build an FOB, make fat cash and defend the base as you create it.

This is a tale as old as time. Even AAA games occasionally struggle with this. Look at the release of Flight Simulator 2024. Backed by a little company known as Microsoft but even they couldn't handle the release day load.

It's going to happen again when GTA VI online mode releases. That's going to be an absolute clusterfuck.

Best bet these days with popular multiplayer releases is to skip release day altogether. Possibly even skip release week. It sucks but it is what it is.

Guys - it's a non issue at this point.

The servers were absolutely fine after a handful of hours post release.

Credit should be given where credit is due. The time it took to resolve the server issues were resolved within hours, not days. Literally by 1p to 2pm PST on release day, the queues and servers crashing were gone.

I am not saying no one else does it, AAA studios do not "struggle" with more than they are cheap and cut every bloody corner they can to save a dollar, knowing full well people will run out and pre-order a game before there is even any game play footage. If people stopped with the e-peen rush to buy something before they can even play it, maybe studio's might actually make an effort to do better..

The mortar spam is starting to get pretty tiresome, with how long it takes to get to the combat area just to get hit by a mortar.

Yea the mortars are getting very annoying, playing against a good chopper with the mini guns is frustrating as well.

Need more time to get stuff unlocked
