I'm just about to switch to a VOIP setup for telephony, but I need to know if anyone has tried a fax machine with one of the main providers (vonage, packet8).

Anybody?
 
I have sent multiple faxes over my Vonage line in the past - since the underlying technology is transparent to the devices you connect to the phone line, you should be able to do just about anything you could do a normal phone line with a VoIP connection as long as you have steady broadband. I.E. one that doesn't fluctuate alot. Also, since the data from a fax machine is usually sent at 14400 baud or less it packs with it alot of tolerance for line noise and static so really the latter requirement I mentioned doesn't often apply.
