I've been having a horrible experience with Viewsonic's RMA process for my VP201b. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences:

First, my 2 year old VP201b's backlight broke at the beginning of December. It has a 3 year warranty, so I got a RMA and sent it in. 4 weeks later, Viewsonic says it's fixed and they're going to send it out. When I get the tracking number, I notice the package destination is for a different state than where I live in! They put the wrong shipping label on my monitor and sent it to some random person. After a few days of trying to get it back (I don't know if they did) they decide to send me a different monitor.

A week later I get the replacement monitor. It's a refurbished VP201b. Their instructions told me to send all cables back, but they didn't send me a DVI cable with this one. I setup the "new" VP201b and I instantly notice the colors are way off: red is obviously much stronger than the other colors. The display is also pretty dim. After working with a gamma corrector for an hour, I get the display somewhat passable. Red is set to .5, blue is set to 1, and green is set to .73! I have a second LCD next to it for comparison.

It is at this point I notice the second much worse problem. The LCD burns in images almost immediatly! When I flip to a black image, I can still see the white parts of my wallpaper. I play with it and I figure out that I can burn in my IM window if I leave it in one spot for more than 2 minutes (I can read the text and everything). It's at this point I call Viewsonic and they offer to replace it. I'm waiting for that replacement now.

Has anyone else experienced problems like this? If so, do you think there's any chance Viewsonic is going to send me a replacement monitor that isn't a piece of crap?

I RMA'd my Viewsonic VX924 through their teleplan repair place. They took 2.5x longer than expected so I told them I wanted a brand new monitor at my door asap. A month after I had originally sent my stuff in, they finally get my monitor back. A perfect model. Yet I was very displeased with their handling and customer service. It was an experience I don't want to go through again. Viewsonic really just sucks.
