USB repeater for gaming?

Hey folks, anyone have any recommendations? I would like to set up a dedicated remote area for gaming (approx 40' away from the PC). The video will be taken care of with a 50' DVI cable, but I'm concerned about the USB support.

Given my intentions, I'm wondering if lag from input devices (and possibly usb sound) will be an issue, and if I should go the route of:

1) Daisy chained USB repeaters
2) USB extender via Cat5

Here are a couple of examples:

The daisy chained usb repeaters will be cheaper, even though I'll need 3 of them, but I'm more concerned about performance than price.

I suggest you use 5 meter (~15 feet) cables and POWERED hubs between each cable. Worst case, if it doesn't work out, you have some hubs and spare cables.
 
Interesting... I hadn't considered power hubs at all, but it makes sense, and sounds a little more reliable and a little less gimmicky.

Also, I just realized the cat 5 extender is usb 1.1... is 12mbps even sufficient for a slew of USB "gaming" devices? Sound, a wheel with shifter and pedals, mouse and kb?
 
Most of those devices are probably USB 2.0 Full speed = 1.1 speeds. Most Human interface devices are 1.1 speeds.
