Wondering if I should upgrade..

Current system:
P4 3.0 OC to 3.4
6800GT OC
1 gig XMS 3200

Budget: around 1,000
Usage: gaming (WoW, BF2, CS), etc

I thinking of going with one of the AMD dual core chips - not really sure what I should get to notice a significant difference from what I'm currently running. My 6800GT is AGP, so I will likely need to get a new video card - thinking of a 7800GT - how big of a difference with it be from 6800GT to 7800GT? Ram wise, I want to keep what I have and get another gig or should I scrap what I have and get 2 gigs of the newer stuff (whatever that is).

I haven't really been keeping tabs on the latest stuff, so any suggestions would be appreciated. There is really no drop off in gameplay with my current system - I can still run games at high settings and 1650x1050 (using Dell 20" lcd), I have notice some slowdown when running BF2. From reading about the dual core chips, they seem to be right up my alley since I tend to multi-task a lot when I'm gaming, etc.

So, the question is - is it time for upgrading and will there be a significant increase in what I currently have?

Drop in a 7800GTX, then buy a 360.

$1000 spent, gaming madness ensues.

BF2 and WoW like 2GB of ram, that'd be my first recommendation. If you wanna play WoW at 1680x1050, I'd also recommend a 7800GT or x1900xt(end of the month). BF2 doesn't officially support WS so you'd be restricted to 1280 on that. CPU is fine since at that rez vid card is bottlenecking you.

he has agp...7800gtx is pcie... he would need at least a mobo upgrade.

ooo missed that. Then yeah if you can find a mobo with PCI-E that your cpu will fit in then upgrade that too.
