Upgrade to LCD on BF?

I am considering upgrading to an LCD with one the on BF deals. I'm concerned about quality however. I currently have a Samsung 19" 955DF, which I've had for about 4 years (and absolutely love). The only problems with it are that it's an 80 pound monster on my desk and it has a chip in the protective coating on the screen (artifact from moving). Other than that I really like the color reproduction on it. I use 1600x1200 and I realize that I'm pretty much stuck with 1280x1028 native if I'm going the BF route (and that's OK, since that's what I play most games with). I would like opinions on which (if any) 19" displays on sale on BF would be equal to or better in quality compared to the 955DF (in particular the Samsung 914v).

Thanks.

BF = Black Friday (Day after tnx giving)

As far as the LCD goes, I know it’s all the rage right now. But IMO a good CRT beats an LCD. #1 it has more colors #2 you’re not locked down to one resolution for gaming.

If you have your computer at home and never move it around, then why not just stick with your current CRT or pick up another one?

At home I have a nice CRT that goes a great job for any task at hand. But for when I go to a LAN party, that’s what my LCD is for and that’s what it’s ONLY for. The LCD can fit into spaces in my truck that a CRT could not, so it’s much easier to travel with. But the down side is that I'm stuck at 1280x1024 for every game I play. And since I have a Radeon 9800 Pro, that is painful to play on with the new games coming out. 800x600 or 1024x768 is what I should be playing at, but it looks like trash on a LCD if I'm not in window mode.

So... if you go do graphic design or gaming a LCD is just fine.

But if you do gaming and graphics, don’t shut out the CRT just yet.
