I have an Acer built pc, unfournetly I can't find any information on the mainboard (F690GVM) I am considering upgrading the processer from a a64 4000+ (orleans) to either a a64 x2 4600+ or 5400+ problem is I don't know if the motherboard will support it? if its even worth the upgrade, once i figure this out off to video card =/

Orleans core is an AM2, so any other AM2 chip should work...save for thw 125watt chips. They may or may not work, depending upon the motherboard. Since those are pretty expensive anyway, I'd stay away. The 5000+ black edition gives you just about as much for a whole lot less $$$

Orleans is also single core, so you'll see a noticable improvement going to a dual while multitasking. Other apps will vary. Since the 5000+ is so cheap now, if you've got the cash, may as well pick it up.
