All right finally got it boot. Since this is a new motherboard it actually gave me some beeps. When I was trying to get it to boot it kept giving me one long beep. Once it did work I got the normal one quick beep. Now I go straight to the BIOS to underclock everything and the surprising thing is that my RAM was already underclocked. It's a ddr2 800 and it was at 667mhz. Now I went to newegg and read that a lot of people have been having trouble setting this RAM at its advertised speed of 800.
I hate to have to bring this thread back to life. My computer had stopped having problems and now it began again... it's pretty bad.. I won't even stay on for more than five minutes if I'm lucky. Anyone ever have similar problems?
Tried about ten times and could not get any video to show, and I did try it with one stick and switched which stick and also the slots.
What I did notice is that it gave a one beep a couple of times, two beeps (which is what it always did) and also a couple times I got no beep at all.
I have AMI Bios.. and I believe i'm getting the first two errors.
1 short - DRAM refresh failure - The programmable interrupt timer or programmable interrupt controller has probably failed
2 short - Memory parity error - A memory parity error has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. The RAM IC is probably bad
All right, got two brand new sticks of ram in the mail today. Plugged them in and turned the computer on to no success. My problem was not the ram.
Could it be the CPU?
At this point it could be anything almost, even one of the new parts although given the beeps I suspect some form of memory/motherboard or power problem.
Reset the CMOS and strip the PC down to a minimalist state and see if anything improves.
Failing that, if you can try each component in another machine (motherboard excluded), you should be able to isolate any faulty components.
There may be more than one thing faulty which will explain why its so hard to pin down.
It may even be an incompatibilty between 2 components which is even harder to spot unless you replace one of the parts.
If there is any way to update the BIOS on your new motherboard, I would try that but do not attempt this until you can get the machine stable somehow otherwise a BIOS flash might render the Motherboard unusable.
Usually you can recover from a bad Flash if the board has dual BIOS so check that too.
Clock the FSB as low as it will go and see if that helps.

It looks it could be more than one faulty component.... I went to the local PC Shop in town and that's what they said too.... Since I replaced almost everything.
Now, I'm just going to try to run the computer on top of a cardboard box to even eliminate the chance that the case might be the problem somehow.
