Ive got a Toshiba M40 here (nvidia 6600 model - Canada) that refuses to work most of the time. if i do get the thing to boot into windows, even the slightest touch sometimes will cause it to reboot. ie, sometimes it will boot, ill navigate around a bit, and as soon as i rest my hand on it, or pick it up, it reboots.

does it running on the adapter alone, adapter with batt in, or batt only. does it with the drive/wireless and so on installed or not.....

i suspect it might be a motherboard, but heres the kicker...

boot into safe mode, and it will run all day, you could kick the thing around and it keeps on ticking.

ive striped the notebook to its last screw and re-assembled it ensureing everything was nice and tight...and it had no effect.

just a thought. its not really your symptom nor your model laptop, but its not a bad place to start.

at the very least contact toshiba and demand some sort of replacement or something. because thats definitely not supposed to be happening....

thanks. some googleing also seemed to hint it might be a grounding issue, but did not provide any solutions. i know there was what appeared to be a grounding wire secured to the metal hinge mount, but it appeared to be ok.
