to wait or not to wait??

I think I'm long overdue on a new PC...bought my current one in 2003, upgraded a few times since and now its pretty much useless for gaming these days. The games I'm really looking forward too are SC2 and D3. I know these games wont be out for at least a 1 - 2.5 years. I'm thinking if I get a top of the line PC now...maybe toss in another video card when say d3 comes out it should run great?I'm also looking at cod5,fallout3 and farcry 2... Heres what I'm thinking and my question basically is : Should I just wait? When are the next processors/video card due out?

I'm leaning towards buying something like this fairly soon:

You can really save alot on certain things you chose.
For example, Q6600 ocies really well, even if you do not OC...go with that. Processors are way ahead of the curve, currently the Quads aren't even challenged by anything.

As far as waiting goes, see for yourself. There are fun games out now, but not too many. Nvidia supposed to release the GTX280 shrink sometime early next year, that is not something to wait for though. Intel will be entering the market in 2010, should be interesting to see. With the current state of gaming, an upgrade now should last you many years. If something does come along. just throw in a videocard to be golden. What I would recommend:
Q6600 G0 Stepping
4gb DDR800
160gb Raptop
GTX280/GTX260/4870x2 if budget allows it.

Think about it this way, purely from your post I get that you would like possibly run game that might come out 2 years from now. You are putting together a PC that will cost 2100 cdn, and plan on buying a current video card maybe 2 years later, so total cost would run to about 2400 cdn assuming you buy a "bang for your bucks" card.
A 1500 dollars PC of the future (2 years from now) will beat a 2000 dollars PC for sure maybe even 3000 dollars. why don't you buy a good enough pc(good upgrade potential PC meaning good PSU/case) that will cost maybe 1500 now, and spent 1000 on upgrade 2 years from now. when I say upgrade, 1k upgrade will be like buying a 2000 pc 2 years from now. new MOBO + CPU(bang for your buck 2 year in the future)+Video card+some ddr3 ram(since it will prob be main stream 2 yrs from now maybe even required by the board) and you already have HDD/PSU/DVD bluray whatever asdfg drive/Case.
1k to buy cpu/board/video card/ram a lot.
$350 cpu (very good already)
$150 board(decent $200 board will be good for sure $50 over budget)
$400 video card(almost top of line)
$100 RAM (I am sure price of ddr3 will come down by then, and 100 should get you a top performer already, if not $50 more over budget another $50)
that's 1k upgrade maybe 1050 or 1100 upgrade

A 1500 dollars PC now will run just great for current games.
Your total cost of 2 years is 2500 and buys you decent pc now, and fairly good pc 2 years from now.

However if you do what you planned, it will be 2400 total in 2 years, but you will only have a great PC for 6 month and an old pc 2 years from now.

Of course that's just my opinion, and what I would do, but I hope this helps.
