Ok, so basically the only reason I bought the xfx 7900gt is so I could play COD2, and now that i've got it, the card is freaking awesome, it has performed very well, but I do have a question, I'm averaging close in the 180-210's in FPS with my settings like this
codss0hn.jpg

. and my texture settings are on low. is this a normal fps for this card? the card is the 520/1500 version.

um, just looking at that screenshot....you're wasting your card's horsepower

you should be running at 1280x960 resolution (assuming your monitor can do that, shame if it cant)

set Texture Filter to Trilinear

set Anti-Aliasing to at least 2x or 4x

your "Preferred Rendering Method" should definately be DirectX 9

turn on Soften Smoke Edges

and crank everything all the way up in Texture Settings

ok,ill set it on that, now something weird happened. I set it to that, and now when i open up cod2, theres a red box that says, pc display settings correct? and it shows that on top of everything for a few seconds, then goes black, but once i alt+tab it to minimize cod2, it changes back to normal and is fine, whats going on?

thats an odd one.... im not a monitor expert, but that sounds like the problem. a red box, solid red with not veryrefined textures, sounds like an option stored in the monitors memory. when that red box comes up push some buttons on your monitor until it goes away.

i might throw in, iv never played COD2, so if this is some stupid HUD/COD2 UI problem, not my fault....

edit: just took a look at HPs website, everyone of there monitors below 21inchs has a max res of 1200X1000. so dont go higher then that, because with 3d accelerator on who knows how itl respond...
