I just wanted to say apon reading this forum that I have yet to see a single post of any one item anyone has ever mentioned that someone didnt say "those suck," We're all technical here so lets get the truth out.... How about "the bose triports have a lower max spl" not "they suck".... Im just saying its making the audio forum almost useless as there is little fact and alot of objectivity.... are you with me... here comes the flames

Sound quality is pretty much inherently subjective. I'm glad your triports get your mojo working, but they just don't cut it for me.

[edit] If we manage to meet because of that other thing, remind me, and I'll bring along my headphone rig. Then the subjectivism can reign. :p

Who gives a rats ass about max(lower or higher) SPL on HEADPHONES?! Lol. If you have to listen at that kind of volume where you have max SPL, I do hope that you're deaf. :D

Fine.

Those Bose have a scooped frequency response.

To put it bluntly....I can safely say my incomplete modified (no money spent on them though) $15 sony "DJ" cans compete if not surpass either bose for audio quality....that's why you see the "bose sucks" comments. By incomplete it means I'm not even done with them yet, it's day two of tweaking, and the detail is already surpassed my Shure E3C....which is a pretty darn good set of phones....the only thing that keeps my phones from cometing with my shures overall are some nasty frequency dips and peaks...but it goes to show what engineering can do for a $15 set of phones, now think about what should have been done to that $200 set of phones....then it becomes more apparent....a $15 phone with less than 30 mins of mod work has no right to even compare to a $200 phone....fact it does says something very wrong.

The other issue is their speakers are seriously an insult to sensibility charging such a high price for pressed paper drivers with foam/cloth/paper surrounds and thin cabnetry. I've owned speakers that were 30 years old that kicked the 901's butt back when they came out (at 1/4 the price mind you), and today still kicked the NEW 901's butt.

Bose does have a place....their speakers have a very high wife acceptance factor, but for sound quality....there are far better for the buck.

Your thread title sucks.

What the heck is this supposed to be about? Why would I even click on this?

Well, I guess it worked anyways...

objectivity means behavior that is uninfluenced by your feelings and emotions.

Objectivity is ruled by emotion and personal observence... why would you attempt to sway someone elses opinion based on your emotions and personal feelings about an item... People coming here to get an opinion on an item are looking for facts not feelings...

I personally prefer happiness over suffering. Are you literally saying we should base all recommendations on the statistics that the companies making the products provide us with?

Of course all recommendations here will be IN THE POSTERS OPINION

Opinion in moderation is what i mean... not just those suck but those lack bass response at low levels.... opinion with fact and reason

What kinda tweaking did you do to those sony head phones?

Mostly just fidgeting with the drivers themselves, to allow them to move with less restriction....they will never be true hi-fi due to the small drivers, but you can either get great detail, or smooth sound, but it seems not both. Right now they would make pretty good emergency monitors for a musician, but they are way too fatiguing for more than a few hours due to the weird frequency response issues....I could fix them, but family is here to visit, so I should spend time with them, not my projects :)

n : judgment based on observable phenomena and uninfluenced by emotions or personal prejudices

its the dictionary definition for objectivity dude.

might i note i make mistakes.... little fact and copius subjectivity... since you all dont make any mistakes

I never said we didn't make any mistakes, but when you talk shit about this forum, dont expect us to sympathize with you about it. By the way, do you mean copious?

kick them while there down. Im just messin with you guys, don't take anything personally ;)

Creative Lab drivers suck. I am pretty sure most of us can agree on that. What company doesn't allow you to download full drivers from their web site? A shitty one if you ask me.

Hear hear! All in agreement raise their glass! For whatever reason, my Audigy2 drivers imploded, starting BSODing, and now I think I just need to yank my emu1212M for a while and reformat to get the damn card to cooperate. The SECOND I can get a card that can output 5.1 digitally, I'm going to take that Audigy2 out and give a nice sulfuric acid bath.

Expensive catharsis. It's the same thing they use to clean the boiler pipes at the power plants where I used to work. It would really cut through the precipitated mineral crud. Still, to be rid of the Creative taint, perhaps only a good acid cleaning will do. :p

Still, why not sell it and chip the money into your DAC fund?

Maybe his guilt of actually taking money for it would drive him nuts. :p
