So.... the Ciri saga? She was OP in W3, so I wonder how they will explain her abilities getting nerfed... I guess she aged

Anyone know if it's the same Ciri voice actress from Witcher 3? She does sound much older in the new trailer.

It actually looks like she went through the Trial of Grasses? Which is going to need some serious explaining.
This could actually be added as a skippable prologue (learning how to move, using all weapons and signs). This is also where Geralt comes it... he can be the new Vesemir looking over Ciri. There's a lot they can do with this... whatever it is, I hope they don't screw it up.

I know it's just a cinematic but that was pretty badass. I assume this means we'll playing as Ciri? Or did we know that already?
buts in game engine cinematic?

Woke DEI crap incoming

But honestly that looks sick as fuck. When is this thing out? Let it cook this time unlike Cyberpunk 2077.

witcher 3 was an awesome game, one of my favorites so I would certainly buy it from GOG, get rid of all those checks like starforce back in the day and I would say if it's being worked on now sometime in 2026, they will try to fast track it

Disappointing. I was hoping for a custom protagonist and a character creator.

There are random comments on facebook about CIRI that this sux. But for me doesnt matter if male or female. : )

Looking good - though the chain 'whip' gave me instant Darksiders 3 vibes. I really hope they go full 'Dark Souls' freedom with their combat design, it's really tough for me to replay Witcher 3 now that I've gotten used to Dark Souls-style combat.

What sort of monster was that? The lead up to it was making me think Leshy, but once they showed it - the face reminded me of a witch but with a more spider-like body.

Still, nothing like a pretty CGI trailer to get me hyped up for an upcoming Witcher title!

Its just the game. I think it will be required 2 generations above of graphics card. Like Rtx 7090 for full smooth path tracing.

"[Game Director Sebastian] Kalemba explains that, following the events of The Witcher 3, Ciri has undertaken the famously painful Trial of the Grasses which has mutated her into a powerful and resilient warrior. She’s ready to take on a whole new journey in The Witcher 4, which is the first part of a planned new trilogy of single-player, open-world RPGs."
That doesn't explain anything. None of the girls who underwent the Trial survived, which is why it was only given to boys, so more of an explanation is needed. Did she survive because of her Elder blood, and did she lose those powers due to the mutations?

While I highly doubt they’ll go that route I totally agree. Button mashing with an occasional sign here and there just will not do it for me after running through all the souls titles. Hell, if I played any of them prior to TW3 I probably wouldn’t hold it in such high regard. Hopefully the combat is more dynamic this time around.

It doesn't sound like the same actor, and as far as I'm concerned that's awesome because she was, for me, the worst thing about TW3 and I would have a hard time playing an entire game listening to her "posh stage school actress playing a cockney scallywag" delivery.

I think they only provided enough of an answer to clear things up a bit, without going into details. Ciri as a witcher undergoing the trials doesn't make sense to me either. She was already OP in W3, able to control space and time, teleport.... so you mean to tell me she's given it all up in exchange for what? Becoming a witcher? I don't buy that. I'm really hoping they have a better explanation in store for us in the game... just have to wait and see, I guess.

We're likely years away from the release anyway... for all we know, this could be a 6090 launch title.

Those powers are also what made her a target for all kinds of plotting factions. If the trials block her powers and also make her sterile so that she can no longer pass on those genes forward, it may actually be a liberation for her.

Could be she got tired of being on the run all the time. Underwent the Trial of the Grasses to make herself a more capable fighter. I do not think she will lose her "Elder Blood" capabilities, since it's tied to her blood/DNA. But she may refrain from using them. I bet they implement a system where there are segments of the game that you can use her powers, but most of the game you will probably rely on her Witcher skills.
