OK guys, I really screwed the pooch with this one. I was cleaning bad things from my registry (really bad idea btw) and now I am getting a tcp/ip missing error.

I checked the reg key for tcp/ip under this root
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\tcpip\currentversion

this is what comes up
name-default
type-reg_52
data-(value not set)

Is this the problem and how can I fix it?

Win XP pro sp1-legal copy
netgear 54g router

Amateurs should never mess with the registry, I know, but the stuff I was removing was from dead proggys so it shouldn't have created an issue.

ok, that would be great if I had any clue how to :D
Sounds good, but I have no clue, so please help.

ok, googled it and while doing the command line "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" with no quotes, I received this error "initalization function InithelperDll in IPmonitr.dll failed to start with an error code 10107

something looks majorly hosed

I just downloaded ipmontr.dll from another computer. Should I delete and replace the file on my borked one?

im with ya still if that doesnt work.. i can try to help more but im kinda noobish at networking as u can tell if u read my post "Freaky Errors"

Score 1 for the good guys. It worked and I am posting this from the formerly borked box. Weird that you utility could basically fix it using an automated method of exactly what I was trying to do, but I don't care, it worked!!!!1one--lol

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it

ok, your problems fixed how about mine :(

glad i could help\
