Soooooooo ya I install it. And it loads the menus fine. Then i go to run it and it crashes during the vidoes. I click on start game and gang. Crashing out with some error. I did change it so it only uses 1 cpu. I do have HT. So my question is anyone know a fix for the videos. As soon as i click start game. i think its supose to load some mpeg vid of ur shuttle flying to the space station. but instaed it spits me out to windows. I tried chaing the compailty to win98 but nothing.
 
I just happened to install SS2 to my laptop which is also a p4 HT...

I applied the official patch (5MB) then the XP/2000 fix patch. Then I set the affinity to 1 processor like you did.

I'm not having any problems with the game so far.
 
those videos are in an old Indeo codec.

Try running the IV5PLAY.exe on the SS2 cd to install the old version of this codec.

Also, it may be a video problem.

I have always needed to add this line to the shock.cfg to make it work:
safe_texture_manager
(you can add it anywhere in the file)
 
ya I tired both of those.... I think i'll remformmat and give it a shot...... Dam old games
 
Lol your the same guy that had a problem with FF7, too bad, they are both great games....
 
i know. I guess deus ex is next on my list....But i can't find my cd.... sucks..... O well. I got my single player gaming in for a bit. I had bought silent hill 3 awhile ago. It was 10 bux so i was like wtf why not. 10 bux. mmm food or a video game. I choose video game. Such a geek.

So I wanted to be scared and system shock 2 wasn't gonna happen. So i installe silient hill 3......ya it did the trick. Pretty fricken scary.......But I wish it had more moments that made u jump. nothing really jumps out at u... and confushing as hell.

Silent hill actually did fairly well with the freaky type atmosphere. And if that did it in for ya, then SS2 would probably give you a heart attack anyway :p

I'm sorry but silent is straight out of hell. I'm reading some of the story. All these forums explaining it all. There is so much to it......So much fucked up stuff. Scary that people make a "game" out of it lol Like silent hill is basicly a world made from pain and suffering from a 7 year old little girl who is in a coma....doesn't get much more messed up then. Hits u on a differnt level then some alien with a wrench going. "Argghhh" lmao

The hell?? Wow, never heard that before. System shock 2 is on my short list of best games of all time. My only problem with the game is that I can't pass it alone, it's too scary. I need to play co op to pass it. God damn monkeys. IMO silent hill is poorly done and derivative.

well each to there own. If i ever get system shock working I AHVE TO GET THE HIGH rez model pack.. cuse the model just i dunno. they dont' strike fear me...they actualy make me laugh.. now silent hill . the atmospear is just sick. Bloody,stained,rusty,dark...spooooooookyyyyy. Nothing like opening a door and seeing piles of body bags... or Same guy hung up on the wall with with his guts hangin out.... lol :p
 
i guess in movie terms, that would be the difference between "house of a 1000 corpses" and "rear window"

i guess. Dam sure would be nice to play some system shock 2 now and then compare the 2......o but wait it doesn't wanna work with me... bastard game.

I think its time to play some unreal tourney to get the adreline flowing again.
