I am looking to get one for digital cable (hi def sports), dvd movies and ps2/wii gaming. I know people will say Westy, but I have $1500 to shell out. I am sure I can get a quality sharp/sony 26"-32" for that kind of money.

I know sony has the new S-Models for their Bravia line. Just wondering how that compares to their XBR models. I am assuming most new lcd-hdtv support 720p minimum? I also noticed only 40" and higher models support 1080p. Is that because of resolution limitation on smaller size tvs? Last thing the higher the contrast ratio the better? (ie. 1200:1 > 800:1)

As far as I know, the Bravia improves over the S series with better upscaling processors for SD pictures and somewhat better video noise reduction. This is important for DVDs, SD programming and perhaps even HD programming too.

Other than that, Bravia has a better remote, looks better... that's about it I guess.

Why not spend a few hundreds more and get the V2500 40" 1080P model.
I think some websites may have it for around $1500...if you look hard enough.

Deepgray do you live in Canada? If so then BB has the Sharp 32" on sale $899.99 on boxingday. This is the same price as a 24" monitor here

I am looking to get a 32" but looking at the 40" 1080P's yesterday I noticed that the Samsung 40" had a better picture than the Sony bravia and at another store the Sony creamed the sharp so I am totally undecided. Another question: do stores normally screw around with settings to make one unit more attractive to sell or move stock a particular model?
More input is welcome concerning the sharp 23" too guys! Should I go for one?
