My latest pair of headphones are quite nice, but lacking a little in the volume department across the board. Made sure that every volume control setting everywhere is maxed, they're just not quite loud enough for some things.

Now, I've noticed that winamp has a pre-amp that cheerfully adds a few db to music and I can usually find a balance between quality and volume if I'm listening to something not quite loud enough.

Is there anything that can do this across the board?
