I've been looking around for a way to make my computer a wifi access point. I just bought a asus k8v, and its on the way. apparently, it has a wifi port that supports a proprietary card that works with ap software to allow the computer to act as a wifi router as well. I was wondering if there is any third party software out there that does something similiar, and if i could run an access point by buying a wifi nic and getting the ap software. Anyone have any experience with this, or with the Asus wifi@home stuff?

thanks for the headsup. The question is, do I need a program like this to configure my pc as a wireless access point? Or does this program only make it simpler?

Yeah, you’ll need some sort of AP software if you want to set up a PC/wirelessNIC as an AP. Of course if it’s only a few systems you could setup an AdHoc network and skip the access point issue altogether.
