Will all socket A boards support the Barton? I'm gonna sell my boss my old Barton to replace his current Duron. His board is maybe 2-3 years old (I think it's some crappy ECS or MSI).

Thanks

Uh...Bartons are Socket A. I would think the factor that you need to look at is, does that motherboard support the speed, and that chip.

It is mostl likely a issue of support for the FSB speed. Older MB dont have the support for the FSB speeds of the barton. You need to check what board he has and either check the web for specs or post here and someone can tell you

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll have to go over to his place and see the board. IIRC, some older socket A boards needed a bios flash for the bartons which got me thinking there might be some that wouldn't support it. Wouldn't want to pop it in and be stuck at 600 Mhz or something.
