We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking into getting network monitoring set up for some sites. Each one is remote with a single IP address on the internet (all static) router and a couple of managed switches. No VPN's are setup and we cant set any up, just to make the challenge harder.

So heres the challenge. I can get the SNMP connection to the router but how can I get to the switches? Obviously the VPN would help but without that what's the options?

Appreciate the ideas.

This depends on a number of things. What kind of routers/switches are being used? What kind of monitoring tool are you using? What SNMP information do you need on those switches? Are you NATing different networks? Are you using VLANs? Are the switches Layer 2/3? etc.

Lets keep it simple.
Assume the networks are simple setup, no vlans etc, were just a router connecting to the internet with a number of layer 2 switches behind it usually with a server on the network. no subnets or clans just one big network.

On the head office we have a machine running Cacti. Using the external IP addresses I can get to the routers at each site but how could I get to the switches?
