smart plugs vs killawatt

I'm getting kinda sick of swapping the kill a watt I have in and out. Can any of these smart plugs out there handle like 1200w and work for a mining rig for power monitoring and remote turn on/off? Or is there something else i should look into?
 
Why do you need to keep swapping it once you get a consistent reading of usage? After tweaking your settings and stable, it's going to continue to draw the same amount of wattage.
 
A lot of UPSes will report power draw, but only support remote on/off via some relatively arcane commands.

But what oblox says is true - once you get the clocks and whatnot set, the wattage shouldn't change significantly.

If you're tweaking fairly often its nice. If you're wanting real numbers on expenses its nice. If you're wanting remote reboot abilities its nice.

If you change algos every so often without ridiculous levels of logging and note taking I can't with any reasonable accuracy calculate how much mining costs in power.

those TPlink's were $35 a pair earlier today and yeah I ordered a couple. Anybody use them or something else like them? I wanted to get my hands on some before I buy enough for full deployment.
 
I've been using a Belkin (now Linksys) WeMo Insights smart plug for a while now. It can handle up to 16a (1920w), although I'm only pushing about 500w through it. No problems with it yet, and it lets me check on usage or remote reboot my miner from work.
