Can someone recommend me a pre-built windows pc that is similar in size to the mac mini?

I don't want to buy another laptop but I want something similar in shape and functionality to hook up in the living room that will serve as an all in one dvd player, internet and game system.

I've taken a look at the HP slimline series and special "keyboard pcs" but I'd prefer something that's more horizontal in stucture (rather than upright) to fit in my tv unit.

Any suggestions?
 
You might want to look at this chassis along with some of the retails listed on the website to see if you can find a prebuilt one.
 
The HP slimline should still work fine if you lay it on its side, but you may not like it depending on the amount of gaming you want to do. Both the HP slimline and the aopen case above use integrated graphics which is not very good for gaming. Take a look at the Falcon Northwest's FragBox or Monarch's Hornet for gaming SFF PCs. They are not as small and sexy looking as the mac mini, but they pack a lot of gaming punch.

I think that aopen minipc is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't play intensive 3d games.. more like flash, pinball and dvd movies so I hope that can handle it.

Is there any more mini pcs like the aopen?

Btw, just checked the aopen... Can't seem to find this available in canada :(
 
As far as I know, they are the only manufacturer making a case that small and "similar" to the Mac Mini. The only drawback I can find is that most of the retailers who are using the AOpen chassis are either:

a) Voodoo (which is fine I guess, if price is no object).

or

b) Unknowns who I probably wouldn't trust my money with after seeing some of the websites.

Either way, it looks like the base price on most of the prebuilt systems are around $900. Also found a good review article on the AOpen MiniPC here.
 
Shuttle XPC! They just released a media center version..... but I cant remember where I saw it. Plain old G5 would be excellent too. If you like to build....look at Silverstone cases. :D
 
Shuttle offers complete systems on the web and various retailers (Best Buy, Sam's Club...).
