Hi!

I have two questions after a fresh install of Windows 11 25H2:

1. It remains, like in previous versions of W11, that on the log-in screen there is a slight, about a two-three second lag when typing your PIN or password, a total freeze of input. Why could this be? I have always had it on W11, on different hardware configurations mind you, but there are occasions it might not happen. Is this related to some loading via internet, or loading a driver perhaps? Could Ryzen iGPU driver does this - the iGPU is not in use, I currently use an Nvidia dGPU - or rather just some software I happen to have?

2. Is there way to remove suggested updates from Windows Update since I made the mistake of disabling it automatically getting drivers only after I installed the necessary drivers myself. Thankfully Windows Update does not seem to forcefully download anything, but I wonder how long quite a bunch of unnecessary drivers will be suggested there, like and old Nvidia driver.

if youre signing into a ms account it has to talk to the server to verify, i think. ALL my systems do it. no your igpu isnt doin it.
what "suggested updates"?! there are updates and then optional updates that you have to actually look for...

pendragon1 It might be then that without internet connection the lag would be gone, I have to try this out later, thanks for your response!

There are separately some optional updates present, but the updates I wish to get rid off are listed right on the Windows Update page, like "Nvidia display" one, "Asus mouse", some AMD related stuff, etc. I can assure I already have recent drivers for the mouse via Asus Armoury Crate and of course latest Nvdia GPU driver. This is not a big deal since they don't seem to download by themselves, I'm just suspectful of Windows Update forcing them in at some point, while currently for every driver there reads the option of "download and install".

POST RE-EDITED:

I faced another issue I would appreciate help with: What to do with a DAC that is not recognized by Windows correctly and due to this not showing in audio devices? Here's the support page of this particular Chinese DAC, Soncoz LA-QXD1. I already went back to W11 24H2 to find out if 25H2 is the culprit, but it seems my new Asrock board is behind it, which I purchased due to hardware fault of my previous one (went from Gigabyte B650 Gaming X rev 1.3 to Asrock B650 Pro RS). Device manager says for the DAC under USB devices "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failure)". Uninstalling the driver, via device manager too, and then replugging the DAC, even to another USB port, does not help. There has never been any issues with this DAC on any other configuration I have had.

Is there anything to do other than contacting Asrock, which I actually already did. I'm ready to order another board if no solution is to be found, since I read today that many Asrock boards have various USB issues, and the board already actually lost one of my USB drives at one point, though I managed to get it back showing up.

That link just goes to a generic download page for a bunch of different devices. What is the actual model of your DAC?

Have you actually tested it on another computer to verify that it's an ASrock USB issue? It seems like you're really going all-in with the idea that it's an ASrock USB issue, without actually having confirmed anything.

Your best bet might be to use something else (such as onboard sound) to feed digital output (coax or optical) to your DAC instead of connecting it via USB.

Sorry, the model is LA-QXD1, added it to my previous post too now.

How could you suspect anything else than the mobo when the device has worked for years and suddenly when you change motherboard it does not anymore, without even touching the device, while malfunctioning on an OS version that it worked previously on. I'll report soon how it works on another PC with an Asus TUF Gaming B660M-PLUS D4.

The DAC works normally on the Asus system so I'll send the Asrock board back since I can yet within the return window. Even if this could be solved with another BIOS version, BIOS fix or adjusting BIOS settings, to me it seems the best to get another brand board this time.

Admittedly the device in question is a rare example. For anyone interested, I have used this DAC with B650 boards from Asus, Gigabyte and MSI and it has worked normally with them. I reported the issue to Asrock and used the currently latest BIOS 3.50 when testing.
