So i received my second gtx 760 both are the same model from the same brand and everything. I reinstalled windows twice using real keys and using the most rdcent WHQL driver released but i never get the option to SLI. I know my motherboard supports it because many others have been able to sli with my board. I have a brand new sli bridge connecting the two. I currently do not have another bridge to try but will be getting one. I have tested each card individually and they work fine. It always puts my second card as a physx card. Any ideas what is going on? Ive reinstalled different versions of drivers too. Maybe the bridge was DOA?
 
I haven't worked with that board myself, but many boards allow you to force pci-e speeds in the bios. If this has been configured, it may be forcing you're pci-e x16 slots into x16 and x1, instead of the x8 and x8 required for sli. That would allow the second card to be detected and used for physx, but would prevent any sli functionality.

I didn't see anything in the manual for this bios option, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Also, a program like gpu-z will tell you what bus speed your gpu's are currently running at.
 
I ran crossfire on this board not too long ago without altering anything in the bios. I got another bridge to try out.

Crossfire works at x4 and up, SLI requires at least x8. Run gpu-z and you'll know what speeds you are getting.
 
GPU-Z says one is PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x8 1.1 and the other is PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x8 2.0. I have tried both bridges and still no go...
 
Little update, just swapped the cards around and reinstalled the drivers after using a driver sweeper and the second card still shows up at a PhysX card. I did notice that when I plug in a second card and don't have any drivers installed windows tries to install a driver for it but it always fails, could this be the issue?
 
Have you tried one card only on the second slot? You might have a bad slot. See if it installed drivers and such.
 
Just flashed my BIOS to latest, both cards installed on reboot and yes I have tried just one in the second slot.
 
The second video card can play games normally in the 2nd slot.

Gave HyperSLI a try, did not work. Tried multiple driver versions, still nothing. Tried both bridges on both sli tabs on the cards, turned the bridges, nothing, still just shows as a PhysX card. Hard to believe that two bridges would be bad, I could try buying a flexy bridge, but I would like to explore other possibilities before going that route.

Your board doesn't support sli. It should but it doesnt. MSI must have cheaped out on this board. Grab a z77 board and make sure it says it supports sli. If you look on the product page it doesn't say sli anywhere but does say crossfire. They wouldn't pay for sli support then not advertise it. Sorry about your luck. Doesn't look like the z77a-g43 supports it either. g65 versions do. Grab a cheap gigabyte board like ud3h or something I believe all of there boards that have dual x8 slots support sli. Check the specs.
 
I will need to post the link, but it does support SLI, other people have got it to work and others have posted a message from MSI stating that this board does in fact support SLI.
 
Are you sure about that? Because I had an asus P67 motherboard that also didn't work with SLI and only supported crossfire (it was their P8P67). I don't believe MSI advertises that board supporting SLI, in fact it only lists crossfire as being supported on their product page.

I really do think that your motherboard is the issue here.

This comes straight from their website on my motherboard page. So it was tested and works, but maybe with only specific cards? That wouldn't make sense.

Weird...Im running an ASUS P8P67Pro in SLI with no problems....maybe the Pro board is different...

Well. There were a LOT of cheap P67 boards that didn't exactly support SLI. Maybe some got it working, but it wasn't exactly fully supported - like I said, I had an asus P67 board with similar issues. I know in Asus' case, you only had SLi support with their higher end boards, and I think a lot of other brands were similar.

I just ended up upgrading to a new CPU and board, but I really do think the board is the issue here. It was quite common on low end P67 boards.

Indeed. The pro is different. I had the P8P67 non pro. Asus did, and generally still does, have 3 main SKUs with mainstream chipsets. One standard, one pro, and one deluxe. And then they have all of the ROG bullshit. Now they've added sorts of other shit with the -K and -A with the Z87 which they did not do with the P67/Z77, but the point remains. I had the non pro, and you have pro. The non pro didn't support SLI, the pro does.

In fact, I tried SLI 680s on this board and it was a no-go. I just ended up upgrading to a P8Z77 deluxe with an Ivy Bridge.
 
I actually ended picking up a P67A-GD65 (B3) off of Ebay BNIB for $60 shipped to my door. I don't plan on a new CPU for a while since Haswell offers nothing for gaming so it was a good deal for me. AND it says on MSI that the GD65 is SLI supported :D.

I have this mobo, and have run SLI'ed 670's and 680's on it, therefore you should be golden ;)
 
Just threw my 760s into the new motherboard. Still just shows the second card as a PhysX card.... This is getting pretty irritating. I have tried 3 separate bridges now. Yes I did reinstall the drivers.

Does the board have the 4.3 BIOS?
It fixes some newer card compatibility issues that I had with the 680's.

If that does not solve your problem, then I would suggest a reformat and start from scratch.

Keep us posted with the results of the reformat, I for one would be interested to know because I might be throwing 2x 780's on this board.
 
Nothing..... Still so SLI option. Onto chipset drivers and such I guess to see if that works.

UPDATE: Still nothing.. I'm at a loss..

Do you have a friend with an SLI board that you could try your cards on? At this point its either a bad card, or user error :D
 
This is a brand new board though. It didn't work on my G43 or my GD65. I have a P5B Deluxe I could try...
 
I'll just post up what I have tried.

1. Reinstalling drivers
2. Reformatting
3. Installed drivers
4. Installed different drivers
5. Tried 3 different bridges
6. Tested each individual cards (both work)
7. Tested each slot (both work)
8. Reformatted again
9. Updated BIOS to latest version
10. Updated motherboard drivers
11. Pulled motherboard tray out to ensure everything is completely seated.
12. Windows Update
13. Hyper SLI

I've done all these steps for both motherboards. My G43 and my GD65.
 
Ok I am about to jump around the room screaming like a school girl I got it to work! So I booted the system with the CPU as the PhysX processor and no bridge connected. I got the balloon for SLI but couldn't enable cuz there was no bridge, so I shutdown, connect a bridge and boot up and VIOLA, SLI option is there.. Omg.. So glad this is working, my Qnix is coming tomorrow :D.

Good to hear. I will remember this blackmagicvoodoomojo u practiced here tonight in case my 780's act the fool on my GD65 :p
 
Now I just need to download 3dmark11 or something and bench it lol. 3dmark06 had no difference with SLI or without, which was weird, I looked up some settings to set, but made no difference, I hope the console isn't lieing to me lol.

Scored a 12288 on 3dmark11 with SLI. Hope thats normal. Going to try without.

Around the 7k mark without SLI, looks like it is working.

Uninstall your realtek network adapters.
Reboot.

See if SLI option comes back.

If so, update the realtek network adapter drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. I solved my SLI issue this way.

Oh yeah I did that too and it didn't solve anything. SLI is still working great btw as an update.
