Some guys at work were telling me about this a few months ago and said its supposed to be entirely free.

Oh that's interesting. I thought they will ask for some compensation for their time. I definitely would like to try it once it's released.

The developers of the Skyblivion remake mod for Skyrim have revealed an ambitious dungeon complex based on Sutch, a planned eighth full city that was cut from the original game and replaced with a single dinky fort...Skyblivion will expand Fort Sutch into an entire city ruin inhabited by bandits, while it will presumably also remain the site of a Dark Brotherhood quest

Perhaps an even bigger change than Sutch is the addition of a second biome for the game's Oblivion gate dungeons...Skyblivion will add a stormy, acidic swamp environment to the rotation, inspired by 'The Sever' introduced in The Elder Scrolls Online...

I watched this earlier. The game looks three to five times the size of the original.

Wow that looks great. The post processing looks more faithful to the original than the remaster. Fidelity is lower, but who cares? It still is in the "looks good enough to be pleasant" territory. Fidelity is like witcher 3 release like imo, but the art direction is spot on.

It's cool they're passionate about it, but some of those people are taking this way too seriously. It's just a mod. A free mod where people are working on it for free. It sounds like some of them are treating it like a AAA game and believe it's going to have 10s of millions of players.

Skyrim came out in 2011, almost 15 years ago. Most people don't care about Skyrim anymore and after Oblivion Remastered came out it further cut down on any interest that was still left in this mod.

I was actually excited for this mod way back when they announced it a long time ago, but it's been way too long. Maybe if it works in VR I'll play it.

I guarantee that Skyblivion will have more players than Oblivion remastered.
 
Despite my cynicism, I have to admit I'm looking forward to this. Really enjoyed Oblivion back in the day, Bethesda were very good back then.So if this mod team has done it justice I can forgive the outdated graphics if the gameplay is good. Hope they succeed.
