Single device with: DSL/WLAN/Printer server (usb)?

You have to think about this from a marketing standpoint. Engineering such a device alienates the cable subscriber market, and although a similar one could be designed for cable, that's two products to maintain and test. Therefore, it's much simpler to design a router with WLAN and a printer server that can interoperate with any type of ethernet connection coming in, covering a larger portion of the market share.
