Serial Port Problems

I'm having a lot of problems with my serial port. I have both a motherboard serial port and a usb to serial converter and they both don't work with my desktop (see sig). I've checked my bios, checked drivers, and checked my software (trying to run a serial VFD display using LCD Smartie) and everything checks out, and also the USB to serial converter works fine with the display on another machine, and the serial cable checks out on the other machine as well. Any ideas on where to go next? In order to get the display to work, I am actually having to create a virtual serial port and sending that over the network to another machine which is sending it to the display. Very clunky and not what I want....

Problems with the system in sig?

That looks to be a really good quality hardware, but I do notice its got a decent overclock on it. I'm wondering if that has any impact on your serial/USB problems.

Hmm... I'll check out the overclock, but I can't imagine that would cause an issue on both the built-in AND USB connectors...
