Self Encrypting SSDs

Good morning [H], I have a couple of questions regarding SE SSDs...

1. If I have a SED and encrypt it using one piece of drive management software (say, WinMagic), and then move it to another machine - am I able to decrypt it using another piece of drive management software (i.e. McAfee Endpoint Encryption)? Since the key management is handled by the drive itself, I would imagine that transferring the drive between two machines wouldn't be an issue...

2. If the answer to question 1 is no, can I just wipe the drive and re-install an OS?

Hardware encryption means just that. It's hardware and has nothing to do with any kind of software. When you activate it you are asked a password when powering the computer. You can put the SSD in another computer without trouble, but if you forget the password, it's over.
