• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Not sure if this is the right subforum but anyway.

A few months ago I bought a SSD harddrive. It as most of them have the function to encrypt itself (or from what i understand always do but the "access" key is blank so you can always get into it).
My question is that the only place I can find to enter a password that could be relevant to this is the HD password in the bios. However this password I guess is cleared if you clear the cmos with the jumper on the motherboard.
So is that encryption really worth anything if the only thing needed to get access is clearing the cmos?

Whatever it is, don't trust it and roll your own. Such blackbox encryption has had enough of fuckups to completely destroy any trust.

Use Truecrypt. System Encryption for boot and triple 256 cascade for anything else.
