I have been playing more Midway Arcade Treasures on my XBOX than anything lately.

MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!

2 and 3

If you ask me these 2 games are definitely a couple of the best ever.

I agree.. I even still fire up the Sega Genesis from time to time to play the first installment of MK...

Mortal Monday was on my Birthday, that day the teachers started their strike...ahh the memories...FATALITY.

Best movie ever!

"Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?"

I thought MK 3 sucked ballz... my birthday is the same as David lettermans.. does that count as cool??

On my birthday in 1977 Apple shipped its first Apple II computer! Oh, wait...*slumps in embarassment*.

omg ! MK2 on snes was 1337! I remember back in the day.. playing as Subzero.

I'd do the traditional ice ball and shoot ice on the floor. But I had a blast with the fatalities.. I'd mix up the various parts of different fatalities (ie permanent freeze and then jumping to other side of screen and then shooting ice grenade instead of uppercut..)

Good times.

I have UMK3 for my SNES. I also have MK2, Killer Instinct, and Super Street Fighter 2. You know what? I'm gonna play right now.

The SNES had the best fighting games.

2 and 3.

MK2 was an awesome game. A large part of my childhood was based on it. My friends and I would visit each other's houses and play MK2 together all the time. When I think back on my life and think of what part of my life I was happiest in, I always think of being 8 years old and playing MK2 with my friends. :D I had the moves and fatalities memorized for almost every single character. When I look back at the albums my mom made of my old drawings, 90% of them were all Ninja Turtles and Mortal Kombat characters.

Arent you barracking for the wrong team? I don't remember a floating lankey indian guy in Mortal Kombat :p

Also, i unlocked Melina and Katana on MK3U at the arcade and everyone was staring at me cause it cranked the volume when i entered the code lol, one of the most embarrasing moments of my life. 60 people staring at me with the machine screaming next to me heh.

I've played every MK to date cept the new half-rpgish one. Reptile was the best or maybe Kabal. Rock On!!!

Aren't the sonic games available on all three newer consoles? I thought Sega put out a collection disc....

MK3 was OK, but the port on Midway AT2 (at least on the PS2) was lacking. MK2 however, I totally agree with you. I've played that game so much that I can now beat the arcade mode on very hard without continuing with more than half the characters (on player 1 side.) Forumla for doing this (on P1 side) below:

1) get near computer player and jump backwards. they will jump towards you, so perform your favorite combo (mine with scorpion is: HP, teleport punch, spear, uppercut.)

2) if you get in the corner, duck and let them throw you. It is the easiest way to get out with minimal damage.

3) dont jump at the computer unless you kick right away.

4) use footsweeps to back the computer away from you, so you can get close and jump back.

Anyways, MK2 is super fun!

Ahh but MKII was badass.

I am unbeatable in Mortal Kombat 3
Too bad it's impossible to find in arcades anymore, and even if you do find it, no one plays it :(

I remember the sega genesis snes days. We used to goto some serious war at mk2 on both systems. I used to seriously piss people off. I could morph into anybody with shang tsung and fatality them. I used to beat the whole room of like 8 players about 3 times in a row before I would be beaten. Used to make everybody sick and angry at the same time. I was the king of the block when it comes to videogames.

Not too shabby on my Xbox in MK2, MK3, Halo 1 and 2. I am god at a few games on my killer rig pc. I wont mention them though because the whole theme of this thread is old school.

I FORGOT TO MENTION. THE XBOX VERSION OF MIDWAY ARCADE CLASSICS IS AN EXACT RENDITION OF MK2 AND MK3 ARCADE.

I really feel like I am at the arcade when I play it. I feel 18 again sometimes while playing. JOY!!

I love women who love computers and videogames. Come to indiana and marry me. We can have little computer tekkie babies.

I can see them now coming out with a videocard in one hand and a motherboad in the other saying
"dad I want a Lian-Li case like yours and mommies, please!"

I have not had a ton of time to play with that game yet but I did play a few levels of NARC when I did have time to sit down with it. The game is a lot harder than I remember. Must have taken a ton of quarters to beat.

SEGA 6 button controller says PFFT to SNES.

Yeah those were the days. I spent so much money at the local arcades playing MK1, 2, and 3 and Killer Instinct, etc. Midway was king of the arcades at the time. Prior to that I was a Street Fighter II junkie, then MK came out and I forgot all about it. Man I wish I still had my gensis and could play it. I'm about to try deception just to see if it brings back any memories, albeit they won't bring back the same feeling that I had then. I remember my friend had the SNES version where there was sweat too, that was funny. I had my Genesis and ABACABB. Heh, still remember the code even after like 8 years or whatever, I guess I even played it on the Genesis a lot. :p Oh the good times.

There are plenty of great Genesis emulators for PC, you just need a good gamepad (the Microsoft Sidewinder USB sucks for emulators, laggy somehow). I even bought a couple new Sega 6 button controllers to use with emulators on my PC, now I just need to find a good SEGA to USB adaptor.

the best mk was the one where you can turn them into babies.
i remember at the arcade and you could fill the whole screen with babies!!
it also had the queer finishing moves that were called friendships.

they fucked up mortal kombat when they added all that combo shiznit

So what character is your favorite everybody?

I would say raiden for me. If you are good with the flying move it is very frustrating for an opponent if you do it when they are jumping at you everytime.

habihabidaaaayyyyyy

a buddy of mine use to think he was saying "have a happy day". LMFAO

I used to play MK all the time on the Genesis but I lost interest in the series. I don't like fighting games much.

I think Chun Li could whoop any MK character out there ..... :)

they should make a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game

Try Purdue, guys. There's all sorts of hot girls here who find geeky guys charming. I should know... I'm marrying one of them (who, ironically, is obsessed with Sonic).

I'm an hour away from there, and my brother lives right next to the XXX Hotdog shithole on Chauncey. One of my best friend is an ASP developer over at AgIT. I know Purdue...

Oh, and keeping on the topic here, I played Secret of Mana last night for like 3-4 hours. I still love my SNES. And I want to hump Chun-Li and Cammy from Super Street Fighter 2.
