We have a network that uses Symantec Backup Exec 10d for our backups. Recently to have another source of backups, we bought 5 1TB hard drives. Now our backup order is to these Sata Drives and then to the Tapes.

The problem with the drives is: if we don't format them every day, the next job will be about 3hrs longer.

I was wondering if anyone could help me create a scheduled task that would format our B:/ drive (our backup drive).

You could create a task with the format command? Or a batch script if you need more than that.
 
Make a scheduled task with "format b:"

But you might want to use other switches. In a command prompt type "format /?" for the availible switches and how to use them.

does a quick format work? (format /q) ?

that would finish in matter of seconds.

what you really need is VTL, not some homemade solution.
