Somebody asked me to install Windows 7, 64 bit on their brand new PC.
i5, asus p7p55d-e

In BIOS there is a setting:

Configure SATA as IDE

I wonder whether I should leave it as it is. I think it might be a better idea to set it as AHCI?

check the data storage section of the forum and see if anyones asked a similar question.. im sure some one has or at least you will find some information on the difference between AHCI and SATA IDE..
 
Didn't find about the differences, but apparently people say use AHCI on modern rings.
 
Use AHCI. It allows for Native Command Queuing and SATA hotplug.
