I'm getting ready to buy a Seagate 320gb drive for one of my older machines on a IC7-G. This mobo only supports SATA 150. I have some cables here I was planning to use from my gaming machine but they are SATA 2 cables. Now I'm guessing that the 2 vs 150 cables are pretty much the same and I can use them interchangeably, but I wanted to make sure they would work for the 150 drive before I bought it.

For all I know, the SATA standards body does not define a SATA 2(3G/300/ io/ whateveryoumaycallit) cable. With that in mind all SATA cables that conform to the standard are equivalent.
 
Most "SATA-2" cables are just regular SATA cables with the metal clips on the ends. Think of it as a Type-R sticker for computer cables.
