I am currently testing mining with this card now along with my i7-2600k which i can not overclock because apparently i dont have a good motherboard.

Anyhow i am very scared as the Graphics card gets to 85 degrees Celsius.

Is this okay to allow? its winter here currently but it is not like New York or England Winter cold in their seasons.

That's hot. I was annoyed seeing my cards hit 80. Increased airflow in my garage, and now I'm seeing most cards in the 60's to low 70's.

Overclocking that 2600k won't do anything for GPU mining.

Yes but i mean overclocking for CPU mining.
As for GPU mining , there is no such thing as airflow by me unless it is breezy in which case i am indoors so no change of that.
I have placed a fan facing down in the case. Too bad that's an extra 50 Watts maybe.

Looks like this Saphire is just designed like that , my Powercolor never goes over 72 so it is clear that this Saphire design is not as good for heat dissipation.
Pretty sad about it as it costs more and it is the 8GB version apposed to the 4GB version.

Maybe i should run the one card outside the box but not sure how, and if the PCI Riser option will help with this?

I've had quite the opposite experience. My Sapphire Nitro RX 480 4GB runs extremely cool compared to my other cards.

Mine is the 8Gb version, im not sure?
It is in the case and on the board as card 1 and then in the secondary slot i have my other card and that card is cooler.

Not sure now?

They are pretty close together also.... maybe the heat from the secondary slot is being pushed to the primary ?

Plus we have temperature of the ambient air to consider

Yes, stacked next to each other in a case, the top one will almost always run considerably warmer, even if you have a fan pushing fresh air between them.

Okay cool, so the one closest to the CPU will be hotter right?
Man, i hope i am not damaging my card?
I left the fan blowing on them now on 1 speed... of the "off-1-2-3"
I have a PCI riser, but it goes in to the small PCI-E slot.... have not opened the packet yet , also not sure where i can place my card.... there is space in the case, like by the 5.2" bays... maybe i can like sneak the card in there somehow on cardboard?
Or is tihs fine the way i have it now?
I actually want to get a desk fan from the flea market or somewhere and then if it can try to place it in the 5.2" bay area.... there are 4 of those but no drives are there so i can sureles use that space and remove the front faces..... and then let the fan pull air from there and then push it on the back of the card?
Maybe i need to be a super hero like u guys and just raise the card putting out the box on a magazine/book or something?
I dont know.

first i need to sort my machine out also, i installed Awesome Miner and i think it has dome done something strange to my machine my hard drive will not stop i can hear it grinding away , i have removed awesome miner and still, i have run combofix , adwcleaner; junk removal tool; super anti spyware.
God knows man this is ridiculous. ? I noticed something was up when i saw my nicehasminer.exe keeps disappearing, i dont understand what the hell is going on now.

Hi imre,

I'm new here but have been mining for almost a year now. Ok so let's start with the temps, and risers. Yes the card is hotter because of placement as DuronClocker explained.

Are you damaging your card at 85c? Well, it can be argued that some hardcore miners have kept their gear running for years on 80-90C temp ranges. But it's undeniable that third party coolers are often cheap. The heatsink, fans, all of it is made cheaply and that is why you often see reference cards running much cooler despite having a single blower. So, look at it this way, on paper, your cards will last longer if run at lower temps and undervolted, underclocked at times depending on stability. Keep in mind, this becomes more important on 6 GPU rigs for example.

For the riser install, I would suggest to use at least wood vs cardboard. Both are flammable, and I have seen the bottom of cheap risers burn to a crisp, cardboard can light right up under extreme heat. Metal is better of course, and if there is any way to punch and drill some standoffs directly on the case, that would be top. Many people use wood instead of aluminium for price and ease of cutting it, I'm sure that would be fine.

As far as how you place the fans and exhaust direction in that case, all depends on current airflow, its usually easier to pull the heat off the card with a fan directly behind the backside.

As far as your machine goes, if you think you might be infected, i would not take any risk with it.. get it fixed, reset, and use real mining software only, such as Claymore, or EWFB, nicehash is fine, but you can also mine on nicehash pools without their software .

Cool lets set up and share desktop session sometime?
Sort out my command lines AND/OR programs,,,,please

Sorry the best I can do is contribute on the forum here and there. My work days are long enough, I would have to charge for mining classes :nailbiting:
