I have the RS480M2-IL (MS-7093) froma gateway pull, and I think I found out why I only paid $50.00 for board and Athlon 64 3500+ . after a hour or so of use it will shut down, after disconnecting everything and letting the system sit for a good while. My question is whats going on? I'm hopeing problem is with the board or the ram., I would really hate for it to be the cpu.

any suggestions or tircks to determine the problem would be much appreciated

"It sounds like a heat related problem." I was thinking that too, but does that mean the processor is toast? or the board, if I turn off the heat monitoring and it shuts down, what could it be then?

"No swelled caps either?" Nope, none board looks like It was JUST installed.

It doesn't mean the CPU is toast. But I wouldn't push it. Nowadays you can burn a chip in the flash of an eye. Do you feel like you've got sufficient cooling? How is your PSU? Could it be maybe you have a PSU cap issue?

I tried 2 different psu's same situation, I am just looking into buying a new board, if I can't figure this out, and as far as cooling goes I am going to try to get a better cpu fan.
