Those ibooks are the most unreliable POS every made by apple.. This is the THIRD F****** TIME i have to send it back to apple for them to change the logic board. What do you guys think I should do? Ask for a replacement with a model that doesn't suffer that thing? Just get mine fixed and STFU and wait until it breaks again? Is there any precedent on apple giving back a laptop free off those issues? I'm glad it's only the second week of school, coz i'd be REALLY mad if I lost half a semester worth of school notes...

I might be wrong but I think if you have to send in your product three times for the same problem they will offer to fix or replace it with something of equal value.
 
yeah apple's gay, um right, way to debase the queer culture there by using gay as a synonym for lame, good job, go you.

the ibook... oh lets see... the ibook has a problem with the logic board... the problem is a semi conductor in Taiwan cut costs by producing a little capacitor with cheaper materials which, when used on the logic board, makes it more prone to fail then other applications it's been used in.

my advice, ask to receive a new ibook and whatever revision it is, ask the apple support or make sure it’s the one without the faulty part. Otherwise you’ll have the same problem again.

Soo, apples POS? no. semi conductors cutting cost on a simple part which is placed in an important place? Bad. It’s a little easier to understand when you talk to them and ask them why the ibooks are failing. Apple is just as susceptible to cost cutting amongst OEMs and the likes as other corporations, it just so happens the little tiny part that failed was in a crucial spot.

Or at least that’s what Apple’s VP of sales indicated when I called.

I've had to return my iPod under warrenty 5 or 6 times to best buy, 4 times it just happened to be about a month after a new iPod came out. Weird how they break like that. Maybe they know they're not the top of the heap and just give up on life.

I'ma try to replace mine with a 800Mhz G4. It's slower, so they should ok it. I'ma call them tomorrow.

So when you buy something that breaks because of falty parts it's not a POS? They replaced the board, ergo, they replaced the semiconductor, and it broke again. The same thing. Coincidence? I think not. I think POS.
 
i guess it's just a difference of understanding. i work in a company that happens to resell macs, along with other things. i understand that, a fault part of a product, is the greater vendors responsiblity but heck, i also get that if they replace your bad logic board with another board of the same revision, it'll have a problem. this isn't because apple's POS, it's just the way businesses opperate. it's unfortunate your machine died a few times, but it makes sense if you actually understand what's going on. the apple brand as a whole? not POS, you're ibook? in need of repair. thats why apple extended the ibook repairs THREE YEARS ;)

so yeah, apple doesn’t appear to be pos to me because I understand that there are unfortunate lapses in qc at all companies really, especially those involved with producing so much of any given product, and while they are unfortunate, they are also a reality in our world.

The difference is between understanding and accepting. I cannot have a computer as unreliable as a G3 iBook for doing serious work. It will break, it's as simple as that. If it breaks, it's a POS to me. hehehe
I bought the most expensive applecare plan anyway, so the extention didn't matter to me. I just hope they replace it with a G4 since those work fine.
Let's just see if apple will be a decent company as you're saying, and offer to replace my laptop...

I've used Macs since 1992, and none of them has ever broken down. In my experience, they're very high quality.
 
Next time they're getting me a new one..
So I have to wait for this one to break first before they get me a new one! Isn't that sweet?
 
unfortunately the warranty states that it will either be repaired or replaced at Apple's choice and all efforts need to be made before replacing...I have had people ask for new comps when they have never sent in for service and were having issues with 3rd party devices...in your case it sounds like it has been evaluated and repair was the suggested option

ooh yeah, um no. queer is a widely agreed upon catch phrase for the entire lgbt community that hsa been reclaimed similar to the use of '!!!!!' in african american communities. but then again i only have a minor in lgbt culture so i could be wrong.
