Well when I boot up my computer, some times it will just restart itself. It happens right before the windows xp professional logo comes up, and it happens about every three times I restart. A weird thing is that it will never happen twice in a row. What is the problem? Pwease help!

Cliffs:
1. Computer restarts right before "Windows XP Professional" loading screen
2. Happens about every 3 restarts
3. Wont do it twice in a row
4. ...
5. Profit?

is auto restart disabled? is there a "your system has recovered from a serious error" type message?

sounds like it's software...for now at least

No, there is nothing that says "your system has recovered form a serious error". How do I disable auto-restart?

control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup and recovery "settings" -> uncheck "automatic restart"

most likely isn't blue screens if there isn't a "your system has recovered from a serious error" type message..but it's worth a shot i guess

Anything fishy looking in the event log?

Any clicky sounds from the hard drives?

I'd check the event log for critical messages (red exclamation points), that might give you a clue.
