Has anyone had any experience with playing games (like WoW) over some sort of remote connection? I have tried running games in windowed mode with Remote Desktop and over OpenVNC, etc. I'm starting to think its not possible but I have a feeling somone has found a way! ;)

i have done it w/ VNC.

It looked like shit. I suppose it can look pretty good if you have FIOS or something. but I only have a POS roadrunner connection. I dont think VNC can transfer sound, but who really needs sound in WOW. lol.

Originally i tried this method, to try and play WOW @ work. w/o the need to install it @ work. lol.

It won't work except possibly on something completely turn based. The bandwidth and latency of your network card is not up to it, much less the network that card is attached to.

Remote Desktop has it's own VGA driver that does not support Direct3d so any 3d game that runs on Direct3d for sure won't work. I would guess the same for OpenGL games as well.

I tried it once, a while ago. It didn't work very well. I would try to turn left and basically would just end up randomly shaking. Also, the image was awful and you couldn't make anything out. I'm sure technology has improved since I last tried it, but I still don't think it would be very effective.
