Remnant II (sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes)

Remnant, Remnant 2 Now Available on Game Pass

in a surprise move- Remnant 2 is now available on PC Game Pass (Xbox Game Pass as well)...surprising move since the sequel came out just 4 months ago and appeared to sell well...the first Remnant game has also returned to Game Pass

Whoah! That was unexpected. Will definitely give it a try now since I loved the first one.

It’s an awesome game, no excuse for game pass holders now. I just can’t bring myself to jump on the bandwagon.

I don't really regret buying the game at full price, but if I knew it was coming to Game Pass so quickly, I probably would have held off.

This game is easily worth the entry fee of $50. Have you played the DLC?

Not yet. I played through it once and made it about 1/3 of the way through a second pass before shelving it. In spite of re-rolling the world, the levels were still a bit too similar and fresh in my mind. I figure it'll be a good game to revisit in a year or two. Hopefully by then they'll overhaul the final boss to not be the worst boss of all time.

How’s the single player - I don’t play games with other people.

I played it entirely solo. It's solid. "Souls with guns" as they say, although combat in this one is even more range-focused than the original. Difficulty is a little inconsistent at times, but I at least appreciated the tough stuff...minus the final boss, who sucks balls.

Installed it with friends over the Christmas break. This game is great, can't believe we didn't play it sooner. It's really hard solo, though.

Enemies have larger health pools with groups right? I played a little mm coop but without in game comms it’s kind of difficult to coordinate.

I tried remnant one from the ashes and the graphics were so bad I just uninstalled it lol

....? the graphics weren't phenomenal but they were at least pretty good.. sounds like you had some settings fucked up or something *shrug*
It was maxed out. I think I'm just spoiled now. I tried to play Assassin's Creed Origins and it also felt like a PlayStation game. Nowadays for the minimum is Spiderman Remastered or Cyberpunk or BF2042. Then there a few games that have held up over time that I find acceptable like Fallout 4/76 or Batman Arkham Origins/knight.

Highly unlikely, but hopefully they overwrite the final boss with something in one of these DLC packs. That still stands as one of the most annoying fights I can ever recall in any game. It's bad enough that I've actually stayed away from the game just because I dreaded ever having to do that again.

Just red shit errywhere.

I’ll pick it up at some point. These games are a lot of fun, happy to support the devs. I just hope one day there’s an update that includes in game comms, I don’t understand the exclusion of that one bit.

I'm resurrecting this thread. So I just built the rig in my sig for context on what I am about to say. The performance on this game is absolute dog shit. One thing I am running into which I can't explain is that when in the game if I change any video settings; performance doesn't ever improve.

For example: All the graphical settings are set to Ultra and I play at 4K. I turn DLSS to Quality mode and let's say I get 60fps (I am still in the beginning/starting area)... I run down the road the game dips to 50 and then starts dipping into the 40s. Now remember... I run a RTX 5090, 32GB Ram, Intel Ultra 7, and I am just thinking to myself this HAS to be this game that is optimized terribly. I go into graphics settings change DLSS to performance. No difference in FPS. Still under 60 constantly. I turn all the Ultra presets to medium. No difference in FPS. At this point I just want to quit this shit game because none of this makes sense. I just installed this GPU 2 days ago, and the entire system is brand new after I just got done building it myself. I encountered this same problem playing Avowed before I uninstalled it. My conclusion after having this issue with Avowed is that this must be an Unreal Engine 5 issue. I can't think of anything else.

Anyone else experiencing this? One odd thing I noticed is that when you change a graphical setting in-game there is no "Apply" or "Confirm" option so my assumption is that the setting changes and saves as soon as you change it. I thought maybe the change in settings wasn't applying, but I don't think that's the case.

Could be heavily CPU bound or the game engine optimization is 💩
For example on Spiderman Remastered on PC it doesn't matter if I max out graphics to the maximum ultra or go bottom of the barrel low everything the FPS doesn't change at all stays exactly the same no matter what dlss setting. That's because the CPU is maxed out even if the GPU can handle ultra settings. There are probably some cores it's focused on more single threads that can only go so fast.
Or a game like crisis/cyberpunk where no matter how much hardware is thrown at it the game engine optimization is so notoriously poor the fps is always lower that acceptable/expected.

Hmm, that's very strange. It has to be something specific on your end. I'm currently playing Rem2 and am doing 4k max w/FSR4 Quality (minus chrom Trasherration, Film grain, and vignette from the graphics tweaker mod) and it literally runs at a steady 60fps. This is on a 5800x and 9070xt and 32gb.

possible driver issue??? have you tired reinstalling them? It's most def not the game and/or an UE issue.

I picked it up hoping it has vibes of the 1st game which I never finished I got stuck on puzzles but played some co-op with Randoms.
People have 1000+ hours in this game so there must be something they like.

Just started choose Healer since there are only four classes at start there is a Tank class but only does melee but if you can Tank bosses might be worth it.
