Refurbished MBs from Newegg?

The refurbished boards on Newegg are OEM/ Barebone. So does this mean the add-on cards that came with the Brand new/Out of the box (ex. USB expansion card and Firewire cards) are not included and you only get the board and cd with drivers? Or is it just the IDE cables, SATA cables and converters that are not included? :confused:
 
I've only bought two refurb mobos from newegg, and both were barebones. As in motherboard only. No cables, cd's, etc... I've heard of some people getting everything with them, but I never have. By the way, both mobos I bought had problems and I had to rma them. I don't think I'll be buying any more refurbs. You might get a good deal, but you might also ending up losing money by having to rma. You're definitely taking a chance when buying a refurb. Also, if you do buy one, assume that you'll just be getting the bare mobo only. Because there's a good chance that's what you'll get.
 
The refurbs I've gotten from newegg have been mobo only. Nothing else at all, not even ATX backplate.

It's a luck of the draw. Most times, nothing but the motherboard, sometimes a complete package. Best bet is buy a new mb and not the refurbs.
 
I bought my nf7-s rev 2 from newegg refurb had all the extras
all the abit boards I have seen from refurb have everything
 
the Newegg "Refurb" for most items actually means You buy a broken item for less so they don't have to deal with it and you send it in for repair.

Every Newegg Refurb I've purchased was DOA or had issues except for processors.

I bought a Asus A7N8X Deluxe refurb...but before I bought the board I did a little investigation...I called Asus and asked them if the board came with any kind of warranty and guess what I found out...


Asus explained to me that whenever companies like NewEgg get back a defective board they are sent back to the manufacturer, then repaired, recertified, and sent back to the selling company(i.e. NewEgg) for resale. Now, since the board is sent back as a barebone system because that is all that was repaired/recertified that is all that is resold.

Asus told me that they would cover my refurbished motherboard under their 3yr standard warranty as the board was recertified/repaired by them before resale. However, NewEgg only covers the refurbs for 15 days only. Anything beyond that you must RMA to Asus or the whichever manufacturer the product was made by.

Now are all manufacturers like this? I don't know. I am only able to speak on what Asus reps explained to me

As far as obtaining all of the goodies that come with a mobo...backplate, extra cables...simply call the manufacturer and they will either send ya a packet for free(which Asus did for me!!) or they will charge you a small fee to get it.

I have had my refurb for close to a year now with no glitches, hiccups or flaws of any sort! Running my 2500+ @ 3200+ and lovin' it baby!

So don't despair....Refurbs all the way!
 
I'd say that it would be a safe bet. But just make a CD of all the mobo drivers you need (available fom ASUS) and you'll be good to go.

Also if you feel like printing out like 130 pages you cane make yourself a manual:p
