I am exploring SQL certification and am looking for certifications that are cross database. That is, I don't want certified for MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle specifically. Is anyone aware of certifications like this and which would you recommend? Major factors for me are industry recognition and breadth/depth of material covered.
Thanks in advance

Comptia is the only platform-independent certification organisation company around that springs to mind, and I'm somewhat surprised that they don't offer Database+ cert.

I think your best bet is to go to a college or university and see what they have to offer.

Personally in the near future I'm going to be taking a course on Databases within website design (TT380) (within the next year). Also Relational databases (M358).

I word or caution, level 3 are quite advanced (relating to final year degree level). They do also have postgraduate and masters courses as well. Assuming your American it may work out a little pricey since the dollar is piss-poor at the moment (still waiting for the right time to convert $480 of travellers cheques from a holiday last year).
