Is this really a good mouse? I've heard so many bad things about their last model. But I'm in the market for a better mouse, I'm a hardcore gamer and I would not prefer to goto the Logitech MX1000 because it is corded, I currently use a MS Intellimouse Explorer.
 
It's a good mouse although a but too expensive, it should sell for under $40 IMO. I've had mine for about a month now and I like it quite a bit. The best thing about it is the on the fly sensitivity, that comes in handy.
 
Yeah, I meant to say cordless, I've had bad experiences with cordless mice, I had a Intellimouse Explorer wireless, and a MX700 wireless, and they just don't cut it for me. I'd be tempted to try the MX1000 first.

foes into sleep mode and risks ambushes,when picked up so far light goes into sleep mode. the razer diamondback is the best mouse out there only problem was for me was that the thin cord ment to have hassle free movement came loose inside and died
 
An excellent mouse for gaming, I have two myself. I believe logitechs MX518 was just released as well which is also supposed to be great for gaming, may want to give that a look too.
 
I bought this sucker and wish only that it had come out sooner. I was a Logitech whore up until I got this one. It's fast, but controllable. I may be a consumer whore, but at least I'm a happy consumer whore.

I agree with the above though, it's a good mouse, but they should knock about 10 bucks off the price. Anything over 50 is just paying for the name.
 
Yea, I have this mouse, and I must say, it is a awsome mouse, I had actually ordered the Logitech MX1000, but cancelled that as soon as I saw these for sale. Diamondback is a killer for fps games. However I am having issues with it for rts games. The sensitivity is hard to get right for desktop use which is quite familiar to rts use ;).

But it rocks for most fps games. However I think I will have to get a cheapass cloth pad for my rts gaming or maybe just plug in my Intellimouse 4.

The Diamondback is so light and in combination with my corepad I hardly get any friction at all so it´s nothing you can just lay back and use. Quite annoying on the desktop where you want to hit one icon and the slightest slightest force make the mouse go bazoom over the mouse pad lol.

But it´s built for fps gaming and it shows it´s absolutely killer in Tribes: Vengeance. However for other games I have hard time getting the sensitivity right. But I will have to try running a cloth pad with more friction and see how that ends up.

But it´s this or MX518 you should look for. The 1600 dpi really makes a difference.

So do ignoramuses. To return to the topic, I had one but stopped using it. The problem is that the drivers have an inherent mouse acceleration to them, and there are problems with pixel skipping. These problems can be solved somewhat through the use of 3rd party registry tweaks (sorry I can't find the link at the moment), but as I go to non-BYOC LAN torunaments frequently and therefore need an easily replicable setup it was infeasible to apply these tweaks everywhere I went. I'm waiting for the MX518, which will have the same 1600 DPI sensitivity, but hopefully without the inherent mouse acceleration, however small it may be.
 
well having used this mouse since my old boomslang 2000 stopped working. i can say it has issues, it pixel skips some times making aiming in fps games a bit hard and its a bit on the small side. the drivers are not that good as well.
 
mouse acceleration will be fixed with upcoming drivers but it sure took them long enough. Pixel skipping will probably also be fixed with the official drivers from what I have heard. They are still beta.
 
If you wait till the 14th you can get the new Logitech MX518... It's meant to compete with the Diamondback and has the ability to switch sensor resolution (sensitivity) on the fly and in game. Read some reviews... I'm totally convinced and am gonna snatch one up as soon as it arrives in stores.

(currently it's listed on a lot of sites, but everyone's waiting for it to get in stock... the only samples out in the open right now are on review sites)
 
Yeah looks good but it´s the same design as the MX510 so in my eyes it doesn´t look good :D. If they would tell me they had made it tons lighter perhaps I will have to look into it. Am suffering from a right button on my mouse that gets stuck occasionally so I have ev to rma/return it.
 
It´s not the same mouse ;). It has an IR sensor otherwise it´s the same yes.

I have the viper and diamondback. viper is a bit to light and a little small. with the the diamondbacks increased size and wieght and more buttons makes it the best mouse I have ever used. I hear that the mx1000 has problems when picking it up. And I have a low sensitivity for FPS's and I pick it up all the time. so it wouldnt be my first choice.


 
I love the sensitivity of the diamondback, the 4 buttons on the sides though are a complete joke :rolleyes:
 
I found that my old logitech mice would lose track if my mat got sweaty, but the Razor can track across a sweaty mousemat.
 
I recently got the Magma Red Diamondback to try out... my only beef is the general shape of the mouse is too short for my larger hands so I have a harder time fitting my fingers underneath the mouse to access the buttons on the side. Also, for some reason, my left mouse button also has an annoying sound when I click it... probably from wear/tear.

The older Intellimouse Explorer was about the right form factor for my hands so I guess I just need a larger mouse.

I'll be trying out the MX518 when it ships.
 
I've got that annoying clicking sound as well, and the mouse is only a month or so old.
 
woulda been better if they had released it in the old boomslang case.
 
MX510/MX518
I vote for ergonomics. I personally use MX510 + Icemat black (for a harcore gamer it is the best pad) and i can say that this mouse is just great.

Nah corepad is better if you want glass pads ;).

But for the Diamondback it´s not optical. I get zero friction so it´s very slippery with such a light mouse as the diamondback. I actually get tons of friction with my Intellimouse 4 and MX510 even with skatez.

Anyway I am getting the Exactmat is said to be a total killer.

diamondback is optical!!!!!
 
yep diamond backs are optical, if you ever see one running flip it over and look at the bright LED and mabe blind your self at the same time :D
