So I just threw a supermicro aoc-usas-s8ir I had lying around into a server, and I want to know if it is possible to set it up to just expose the drives to the OS, FreeBSD 7.2. I don't want to use it for any of the raid capabilities, I'm planning on using zfs for that.

Does anyone have any advice?

I haven't used this particular card, but it doesn't look like an HBA mode is available.

The workaround is to create a bunch of RAID0 arrays with a single disk each.

look at the bios and firmware options on the manufacturer's site. Some cards have a raid bios and an hba bios to choose from.

a bunch of raid 0's should work and I had not even thought about that, THanks for the help

kharan5876: ya, I've looked through the raid bios and I couldn't find anything to do what I want. I don't think there's an hba bios either, but I'll give it a check.
thanks

I'm trying to set up the individual drives, but arcconf does not want to create a raid 0 with just 1 drive. Am I missing something here?
