Ok heres the deal my setup onboard via raid sata controller neo lsr version
2x80 GB serial ata western digital drives setup in raid 0
The other day I was using my computer and the computer randomly restarted upon reboot when back into windows fine but my raid array disappeared from the windows file system. I think to myself shoot one of my drives has failed so I reboot go into the onboard raid bios and discover that both drives are reading perfectly. I think good news the drives didnt die bad news where did they go in windows. I check all my bios and drivers everything is up to date. I try reinstalled the serial ata raid controller within windows with no luck.
Im kind of stuck here I dont know if should manual recreate the array in the raid bios? If I should reinstall windows and see if the raid magically shows up upon a fresh reinstall of windows? Or if I should just suffer the loss of data and try to create the array from scratch with both formatted drives?
More notes:
My windows xp-sp2 o/s is on a separate parallel ata controller so it is not affected by any of this. (Luckily)
I have run disk management within windows and only my main system drive and cdrom drives show up.
Questions:
If I recreate the array within the raid bios upon boot up will I loose the data already on the raid array?
If I reinstall windows will the raid array show up as it did before without a chance of data loss or corruption?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
