Hey all

I havent built a new machine in a while, but did some research and settled on a P5B + Core2Duo setup. I just snapped everything together, but i am a bit confused how to set up a raid 1 setup using this board. The manual isnt very clear. At first I thought i needed to plug one sata drive into the Jmicron sata connector and one into a regular Sata1. I couldnt access a raid bios to setup the drives however. I also tried (with no success) to plug one drive into SATA1 and one into SATA2 . That was fruitless as well. Am I missing something obvious here?

Plug both into the JMicron controller. If you're using hardware RAID, they have to be on the same controller. According to the Asus web site, that means one in the inboard SATA and one on the outboard eSATA (that might mean routing the cable out the back of the case).

If you use both on the ICH8 controller, you can try software RAID.

If you are really serious about RAID, the version of the MB with the ICH8R would be a better bet - I don't know if you can exchange yours.
