Iv got a Dell d800 with a poor g4 go 64meg in it. Iv read on the Dell forums that it is possible to buy the Radeon 9600 from dell spare parts and upgrade the D800 with it so im wondering if this can be done with the 9700 also. Does the new 9700 have the same connections as the 9600? Now that the dell 9100 is selling with a 9700 it should be orderable via spare parts soon like the 9600 but i need to know if it will fit or to just go with the 9600 upgrade.
 
I would doubt that it would fit. Dell generally doesn't add new cards later that will fit the older style laptops, from my experience. I may be wrong though.
