So I tried viewing some videos in DivX player and Quicktime both don't have audio. They are avi's The picture is fine but no audio. When I try and run them all it says is Quicktime is missing some componants which might be found on the quicktime page. Well I haven't found jack really what do you guys reccomend?

Well, DivX player, Quicktime, Real all couldn't do it but VLC could just fine.

another thing I would try is flip4mac, sounds weird but that thing plays all wmv's an avi's in quicktime perfect for me, and it allows me to use front row perfectly with all those other normally non compatible files.
It's just the quicktime components that I use though, I can't speak for the actual player since I have never downloaded it.

No prob, that codec pack covers everything I've ever needed, and I also have VLC installed for the occasional stuff.

i've downloaded this and there is just a folder on my desktop...what do i do with it now?

Quoted from that page where you downloaded it:

You’re going to want to download the zip, extract it and move all of the .component files to /Library/Quicktime. The easiest way to get there, is open finder and do the following key combo: apple key + shift + g, and paste in this path: “/Library/Quicktime” and hit enter. From there, just drag the files into that folder and you’ll be good to go!
