Quick Question

Not faster but probably better stock cooling and more overclockable if it's CABGE (I think) chip/core/thing. It's even an opteron, alot cooler name than athlon! ;)
 
P{high overclock on Opteron} > P{high overclock on Athlon 64} imho. It does not mean that your Opteron will perform like a champ, nor does it mean that you cannot be lucky and get an excellent A64..
 
Grab the Opteron. I can't say with 100% accuracy that the Opterons are made with better silicon, but it certainly seems like it.
